ELLE/Marie Claire editor & Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia, presents a wealth of sound & timeless style advice amongst whimsical illustrations-- perhaps a gentle reminder that fashion should be fun?

Nonetheless, this is a lovely book & I've given several as gifts Fabulously Concise & Timeless Style Advice. 2009-02-24 Rating 5.

This is definitely a book every stylish woman should own as a reference book even though we each have our own tastes A Must to Own!. 2009-02-10 Rating 5.

I really liked this book Good starting point for creating your own style.... While it's clear that Nina doesn't expect people to run out and purchase all 100 items, the fact that these pieces are listed shows their longevity2009-01-29 Rating 4. I really appreciated the history lesson on certain pieces - like Bakelite. Who knew that's why that style is copied so much. The history behind the white shirt, gold link watch (women owned that first!) and other iconic fashions was really welcome. Nina didn't just list 100 items, she showed WHY each item had stood the test of time for decades.

It's a great starting point toward building a wardrobe. It's been such a help. I thought at first that Nina should do a high, medium, low version of most of the items, but then I realized that in some cases, saving up for a high quality pair of black slacks or a classic white shirt that won't become hopelessly wrinkled or covered in lint, is the better way to go. Most of the pieces are so iconic that all department store lines and boutique lines and mass-produced lines (Wal-Mart, Old Navy, etc. ) carry some form of most of what she listed.

Great style guide. I have her other book, The Pocket Book of Style, and that one is good too - but I prefer this one. It's more of a fashion encyclopedia than a strict guide and that's why I love it. But both together really help you pull your style together.

This book was a very quick read and really fun A really fun book!. Take everything with a grain of salt, I could never afford many of the items she recommends, but I enjoyed it anyway2009-01-12 Rating 5. A great way to escape!.

I was surprised how much I liked this book Nice Job Nina!. What a great idea2009-01-10 Rating 5. You're always hearing over and over again how important it is to have bedrock pieces in your wardrobe, but I've never seen anyone actually make a list like this. While there were definitely items I have no desire to own, there were some I realized would really be useful. Happily I do already have many of the items on her list and it was interesting to read her tips on wearing them. I never would have thought of putting a skirt with booties (always sounded too 80's to me) but it's actually a classy look if done right. I also enjoyed reading the history behind many of the items she listed. She definitely got me thinking about my closet with ways to improve upon what I have and also what to keep a lookout for when I'm shopping in the future. .

"Simply put, these items make me feel classic And there is no substitute for feeling this way. Ever
