EAN:9780596009205 Label:O'Reilly Media, Inc. Author:Kathy Sierra Binding:Paperback | Actually, I read this book when I already had quite some experience (couple years) with Java development Liked it, still keep in my library. But this book is great!2009-03-08 Rating 5. I have done some Java programming but was a bit rusty and figured a overview type book would be nice great if you are looking for a cartoon. However I found this book pretty much useless2009-03-06 Rating 1. The layout is like a comic book with lots of graphics but little content. I found it worthless and will likely not look at any other Head First series books, the format just fails for me. I bought this book as a second reference to the text book required in my class Good book if you like "cutesy" stuff.. The information is in there for sure, but I grew tired of all the cute chatter, and silly filler2009-03-05 Rating 4. Great book Head First Java, 2nd Edition. I've bought at least 3 other books to learn Java and this is the best one by far2009-02-09 Rating 5. . I have been struggling for years to get the concepts of object oriented programming into my head I finally get object oriented programming thanks to this book... I have failed miserably until this book2009-01-20 Rating 5. After reading this book I finally understand things like polymorphism, encapsulation, and wrappers. . concepts that all other books gloss over because the authors just presume you know what they mean. I have wasted time with a dozen other books and learned nothing. This book made it all clear to me. I have been dancing a jig ever since I got it. This is the first technical book that I would place in a top ten category regardless of topic or whether it is fiction or non-fiction. The authors are geniuses. I wish I could kiss them both and thank them for teaching an old procedural programmer how to finally get it. Hey, and learning Java was nice, too!. Learning a complex new language is no easy task especially when it s an object-oriented computer programming language like Java You might think the problem is your brain. It seems to have a mind of its own, a mind that doesn't always want to take in the dry, technical stuff you're forced to study |
