Hands down one of the best animation books out there the best. It's a visual guide, history, and how to manual all rolled into one2009-02-20 Rating 5. I can't think of many books that deal with classical animation that feel as complete and authoritative as this book is.

This is a great book for every animator to keep on the shelf for reference All You Need To Know. 2009-02-16 Rating 5.

The reviews for this book are overwhelmingly positive, and I don't have too much to add to what has already been said Great Book. This is a great book on the techniques of animation2009-02-12 Rating 5. However, if you don't know how to use your animation tools, this book won't help you. If you are a computer animator, this means that you should already know the basics of your tools before tackling this book. If you are a traditional animator, you should already know how to draw before reading this book.

As someone who received a bachelor's degree in animation, I can say this is the best book on the subject I have found An animation student's opinion. Williams learned from the masters and he passes that on to the reader2009-01-30 Rating 5. Other books tell you how to do a walk cycle; Williams spends a hundred pages on walking with personality. This kind of knowledge and expertise is useful regardless of what technique you are using to animate; a computer animator still needs to know how the characters move, the right timing, how to show weight, personality and so on. Williams rambles a bit about the old animators he learned from, but the lessons are valuable enough to tolerate it.

like every person that has talked about this book said It is the best one if your into animation the animators survival kit. 2009-01-23 Rating 5

The definitive book on animation, from the Academy Award-winning animator behind Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Animation is one of the hottest areas of filmmaking today--and the master animator who bridges the old generation and the new is Richard Williams During his more than forty years in the business, Williams has been one of the true innovators, winning three Academy Awards and serving as the link between Disney's golden age of animation by hand and the new computer animation exemplified by Toy Story.

Perhaps even more important, though, has been his dedication in passing along his knowledge to a new generation of animators so that they in turn could push the medium in new directions
